Jonage - Succeeding all together

Témoignage de Yann Rouet Warehouse Manager - Jonage

"I will start by saying that the last few weeks were difficult, but that from the outset of the pandemic Baxter was proactive, innovative and well prepared.” These are the words used by Yann Rouet, warehouse manager of the Jonage distribution site, to present the first measures taken at the end of February: hydro-alcoholic gel, protective and social distancing measures, shifting team schedules. “All these measures were taken by Baxter 15 days before the announcements made by health authorities.”

A climate of trust and dialogue was quickly established and it was clear to everybody that the measures taken, without being alarmist, made sense in the current environment. The teams were also immediately aware of the situation. “They quickly understood that we were all concerned, that by continuing our activities we weren’t only providing supplies to institutions, but potentially to those we love.”

More than an organization, a state of mind gradually emerged. As early as March 17th, our employees understood that needs were growing steeply and they spontaneously offered to work on Saturdays.

There was no need to convince anybody. Everyone knew what had to be done.

The team grew stronger, more cohesive, demonstrating a new energy, even though social distancing measures made lunch breaks together or usual human relationships impossible.

There are still concerns nevertheless for our colleagues who must work on site every day with other people, instead of staying at home. Some people worry about putting their families at risk. This is very understandable and the continuous media coverage of the last few weeks raised concerns about the risks involved in leaving home. “We discuss often. The rules must of course be reminded regularly.  The 3 first weeks were not easy, but everybody adapted and a form of solidarity appeared that goes beyond Jonage and even the country’s borders. We help another european site for instance with certain deliveries in the greater Paris region.”

Finally, this challenge we are all experiencing goes well beyond our company. There really is a common goal that relies on each person’s natural commitment, on human values such as generosity and on the determination to accomplish a mission together."
